I love sewing

I made my first garment, a denim wrap-around skirt, on a battery operated chain-stitch sewing machine. I was 8 years old. I had to wait until a few years to join 4-H when I learned to sew on real sewing machines. I haven’t stopped learning or loving the craft.

I’ve made numerous slipcovers, curtains, pillows, table linens, and clothing for kids, animals, and adults. Neighbors call on me for complicated alterations and redesigns. I have especially enjoyed uncovering secrets in vintage wedding dresses as I redesign them for modern brides. What can I do for you?

Testimonials

I contacted Jane with hopes of re-purposing several vintage skirts that were made of beautiful fabrics, but did not fit me. Thanks to Jane’s expert alterations, I’m happy to report that these garments, originally made with so much thought and care, fit me comfortably and are back in use!”
— Karen Frost
Everything she tackles is done with the utmost precision and perfection. Not to mention what a wonderful experience it is working with her.
— Liz Foster
Her insistence on every stitch in place, every seam as intended, every design well conceived and executed, goes without saying when working with Jane.  If I had even a thimble of her talent, I’d be very glad.
— Denise Shekerjian
We all have a favorite wardrobe piece, the one that is “just right” in nine out of ten cases. When mine, a twenty-year-old tunic top by the late designer Zoran, no longer fit, Jane copied and updated it. Perfectly. So good to have such an old friend back in rotation in my life.

About Me

MY NAME IS jane

My love of sewing started in kindergarten and has never stopped. Santa brought me a battery-operated sewing machine and a simplicity pattern for a wrap around skirt (size 6x) and I was off.  Soon I was making hats accessorized with feathers plucked from my little sister's Indian head dress. Since them, there have been dozens of prom dresses, wedding dresses, suits, jeans, t-shirts, upholstery and slipcovers.  Today, I'm loving  couture. The design, the hand-sewing, the techniques, the meticulous details draw me to needle and thread (and, to one of my five grown-up sewing machines.)
